STEM Week
A wonderful week of exciting experiments and exploration was had by all. This year's theme of 'Innovation in Science' began with a workshop by Professor Bubbleworks which led the children onto their own discoveries and innovations for the future.

Allotment Club
The hardworking Year 4 Allotment Club have been busy this year preparing the soil, sowing, planting out and of course harvesting the fruits of their labour.

Eco Flag
We are so proud to have been awarded the Eco flag for a phenomenal 5th time! The children celebrated the raising of the flag with a celebratory picnic on the last week of the Summer term.

Music - Wider Opportunities
Children in both KS1 and 2 have developed their musicianship skills in wider opportunity lessons led by Mrs Clark from the NT Music Hub. The children have become proficient in playing glockenspiel, djembe and violin.
Active Mile
Always endeavouring to stay physically active, the children completed the active mile. This required the children to run a massive 10 laps of the school field, some kept going even after 10!
PE - KS1 Fundamentals Competition
Year 1 and 2 pupils took part in a Fundamental Movement Skills competition ran by North Tyneside PE and Sport Team. They had great fun rolling, bouncing, catching balls as well as running.
Christmas Festivities
We didn't let Coronavirus dampen our enthusiasm for the run up to Christmas. The children enjoyed bubble parties, Christmas dinner, Christmas crafts and an elves' workshop down in Early Years.
May Day
An alternative May Day celebration this year, the children learnt dances around the maypole as well as with sticks and swords (the wooden variety on this occasion!) They also learnt a little more about the history of May Day and enjoyed some theme related crafts.
Harvest
Although unable to celebrate with parents in the usual way, the children still enjoyed an enriching experience. They explored the religious significance of the festival, created harvest crafts and recited poems.
Children in Need
We all dressed in spots, stripes and bright colours to raise a whopping £221.10 for the Children in Need cause in November.
Comic Relief - Red Nose Day
March saw our annual fundraising event for Comic Relief. The children dressed in red and donned their red noses for this national charity event.
Weekly Wellbeing
During lockdown our Weekly Wellbeing challenges gave the children an opportunity to be creative. Good for the mind and the soul the children created hearts from plastic waste, found interesting places to read a book and made Coquet out of everyday items from around the house.
Children's Cancer Run
As part of our healthy week the children took part in the Children's Cancer Run. The weather didn't dampen anyone's spirits as they ran laps of the school playground to raise money for this important cause.
Forest School
The children in Early Years have enjoyed their weekly Forest School activities throughout the year. Activities ranged from watching the changes through the seasons, making crafts like fairy breath bracelets and musical dancing sticks to STEM work building rivers, bridges and constructing dams.
World Book Day
The children took part in the annual World Book Day on 4th March this year. Nursery enjoyed reading for pleasure, whilst the rest of the school made their favourite book characters from different materials.
Healthy Week
Healthy week this year looked a little different to previous years. However, the children in all year groups enjoyed fun and engaging activities which allowed them to explore physical and mental wellbeing.

Sports Day
As part of our healthy week activities the children took part in our annual Sports Day. Races included hurdles, sprint, sack race and the all time favourite, egg and spoon.
Hawkhirst@School
Year 4 had an alternative Hawkhirst activity week based in and around school and home. A great way to end the year and their time at Coquet Park. The children completed team challenges, spent a day at the beach, took part in orienteering, den building and creating artworks from nature.
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day was recognised in school by an installation of poppies on the Nursery gazebo. Children in each year group created their own poppies using different artistic techniques. A fitting tribute to remember those who fought for us. We supported the Royal British Legion with the selling of poppies and poppy related items.
World Vision
As a school we have sponsored Noelia through the World Vision scheme for another year. We sent her birthday and Christmas cards in addition to a Maths game to play. She sent us videos which were shared with the children in assembly time.
Music Mark
At the close of the summer term we received the exciting news that CPFS has been nominated by the Music Hub to become a Music Mark School for the new academic year.
Being a Music Mark School brings with it benefits for the school in it's delivering of music education.
